About WCES
In order to be able to speak English in Japan, time spent in contact with English is essential. There is a limit to how much English you can learn by only attending a Japanese school. Similarly, if you only attend an international school, you may not be able to learn Japanese.
Wilson Canadian English School helps children acquire English by helping them acquire a "balanced" knowledge of both English and Japanese in order to maximize their future potential.

"Language emerges naturally from everyday conversation."
I was born in Kyoto with a Canadian father and a Japanese mother.
I spent my childhood in Kyoto and attended a Japanese kindergarten, but I received no English education and had no ability to speak, read, or write English.
However, due to my father's work, we started living in Canada from elementary school, and I naturally picked up English. By the time I reached junior high school, I was as fluent in English as I was in my native language.
In Canada, I became interested in early childhood education and participated in early childhood education program training while I was a student, where I learned about the importance of language education at an early age and how to acquire it.
From my experience in Canada, I realized that even if students can read and write English in Japanese English education, it is difficult to actually speak English. I realized that language is not something you learn at a desk, but something you acquire naturally in your daily life.
After that, I became a parent myself, and in order to provide my child with a bilingual education, I created an environment where he was exposed to both English and Japanese in his daily life. My son is now 10 years old and can use both English and Japanese as well as his native language. I also established a new baby's club where parents and children can attend so that my 1-year-old son can be raised to be bilingual in the same way, and I am currently looking for families who want to join me in becoming bilingual.
I established this school to utilize my experience so that Japanese children can grow into international people who can play an active role on the global stage. I want to realize the day when children can use English naturally during their precious childhood and become active as interpreters when they travel abroad with their parents.
We hope that our school can help expand your child's future globally.
